Para empezar, estos chicos tuvieron demasiada suerte. Hay dos formas de entrar en lo Desconocido, una de ellas es a través de la muerte. Pero para los hermanos había reservado otro plan. Estaba escrito que debían ir a lo Desconocido, y al destino quizá le pareció demasiado cruel ahogar a unos niños a los que les tocaría cargar con una gran responsabilidad sin haberles preguntado si quiera, de modo que consiguieron pasar la "pared" que separaba las dos realidades a través de un portal. Lo crearon ellos mismos, o más bien sus subconscientes  deseosos de librarse de la muerte, con ayuda de toda la magia concentrada en el muro del cementerio.  Esto se debe a que ese mismo cementerio es el fino lazo que une lo Desconocido con la realidad en la que viven Wirt y Greg, y hay momentos en los que este lazo se aprieta y resulta más sencillo atravesarlo. Estos momentos son de luna llena a nueva, siendo el espacio de tiempo entre la siguiente luna imposible acceder  o salir de lo Desconocido. Cuando más fácil es entrar a través de los portales es en luna llena, cuarto menguante, luna nueva y cuarto creciente. Cuando los hermanos entraron por primera vez, lo hicieron en cuarto menguante, y por suerte, a través de un portal.

For starters, these guys had much luck. There are two ways to enter the Unknown, one is through death. But for the brothers had been booked another plan. It was written that they should go into the unknown, and perhaps fate seemed too cruel to drown two children who would carry a great responsibility without having asked if they want, so they managed to pass through the "wall" that separate the two realities through a portal. They created the portal by themselves, or rather their subconscious eager to get rid of death, using all the magic concentrated in the cemetery wall . This is because the same cemetery is fine bond that unites the unknown with the reality in which Wirt and Greg live, and there are times when this loop is tightened and it is easier to cross. These moments are from a full moon to a new moon, making in the length of time between the next full moon impossible to access or exit the Unknown. When easiest is to go through the portals it is at full moon, waning, new moon and crescent. When the brothers first came, they did at waning, and luckily, through a portal.
