ENGLISH ~

Prepare to read ;D

"The Ritual" is a story I create following the end of Over the Garden Wall. The argument would be based on that after all the events of the show, the Beast is dead, and therefore Edelwood trees are free, have no owner. And the fact that the forest is free and the Beast is not hanging around looks good at first glance, right? Well it is not. Edelwood, having been created out of innocent children is quite furious. For that and for the years of creation and the cut down of the same trees. So Edelwood wants to consume all life has around him, destroying the entire forest of the Unknown. That account also behind the wall, so we speak of a disaster worldwide. The only person who has noticed that something was wrong was the daughter of the woodsman, Elise. And he knows that things don't go because she was transformed into an Edelwood tree long time and has a very close relationship with the forest. Therefore, the only viable solution is to realize a Ritual of change of power, in which the Beast transfer his powers to the best candidate, Elise. But in the Ritual must be present the 6 Gifts of the Forest, which were distributed to the death of the Beast. And this is where comes the squad:

Bullet; Orange Wirt: represents the cycle of autumn and winter, much needed in a forest. Wirt suddenly find that, if he concentrate, can make grow tree branches around him and handle them at will. The problem is it takes a while to grow, but are more resistant. Nevertheless, Wirt not want to know any of this, since the circumstances are sending him to the Unknown and is a place he'd rather not go back, so he ignores his gift. His cognate tree is the maple.

Bullet; Green  Greg: represents the cycle of the spring and summer, contrary to his older brother. Greg, however, being able to grow twigs seems very funny to him, so try to improve more and more, ignoring reprimands of Wirt. Greg creates branches very quickly, but they consumed before and are not as strong. His cognate tree is the oak, although usually the branches that he creates aren't resemble as the tree, because they are not long enough to grow both.

Bullet; Blue Beatrice: represents the animals that habit the forest. Who better than she, who has been a bluebird for a while? For she, doesn't make any grace. Seems a cruel joke after spending so much time looking for a solution to the curse that hung over her and all his family that without notice wings appear again. She keeps the Adelaide's scissors, but if the wings are cut, they appear after without notice, so Bea spends the day in the woods, without her family knows what happens, until she finds a way to get rid of new wings.

Bullet; White Lorna: represents life from death, as when from a dead tree grows a new one or the seeds that are inside a fruit germinate in the dead fruit. At first it seems a very unhelpful gift, and she didn't seem to notice any differences. No special power or any strange affinity. Only when he loses his temper or rages really, you can see the change. Although the spirit that tormented her since childhood had vanished, spirit is been so long in Lorna that it had become part of herself. So if she lose control she falls into a deep sleep and spirit takes control of her body.

Bullet; Purple Jason Funderberker: unlike Lorna, represents life after death. He and Sara are involved in this madness by have been directly connected with the decision of brothers to jump to the other side of the wall, 'cause if Jason and Sara had never seen the tape, Wirt never would have jumped. Jason has the uncanny ability to see the souls of Edelwood trees, and apparently is the only one who sees ghosts in their true nature. While others see violet masses who mourn, he see children crying for eternal rest and for be released from their prisons of wood.

Bullet; Yellow Sara: represents that magical party possessing all forests, being the opposite of Beatrice. All forests need a witch to channel the magic to not destroy himself. Sara almost play this role by lot, because behind the wall, magic is not a born gift, but Sara's smart and fast learner, so is in her hand the spells and potions' part. Enoch is the one who will take the role of his mentor, because he secretly was the cat of Adelaide and has many aces up its sleeve.

Bullet; Pink Anna Elise: candidate for "beast", she is the only one who can survive a change of power of that caliber. Having a woodsman father and growing up in a forest, she can be next to Lorna, the most knowledgeable in the group of trees, plants, trails, animals, etc. Elise grew up without his mother, but his father raised her with all the love as he could. She don't have any information about his birth or his mother, and his father refuses to talk about it. This led Elise to find answers by herself. What she didn't know was that the answers she wants are going to give by the Beast that she had heard. She is able to grow moderately any type of plant, but her favorites are the Unknowns, the native flowers.

Bullet; Black Beast: like a shadow, once the light of his soul get off, he disappeared without a trace. Well, a trace of despair itself left. The Beast is the most important part of the ritual, because without he there is no change of power. So Elise had to put all his efforts to turn on the lantern again without the soul of the Beast nearby. The problem is that when she got it, the Beast did not wake instantly at her side, but monsters began to appear in all the forest, monsters like the dog who ate the black turtle.

If something in the translation is not right, please notice me, my english is not so good, thank you!

Very intriguing! But shouldn’t Wirt’s power be over dead leaves and snow? Those are what his seasons are associated with.
